Coronado Extreme Triathlon
Ok, so part of our decision to move to Panama was to try new things in life.
Well about 5 weeks ago we were at dinner with a group of new friends, one said. “hey why don’t you two join us for a swim in the ocean tomorrow morning?”. Well this was training for the upcoming triathlon. Tiffany responded, “Well if Todd is up for it.”, my response was “Well I am not going to say no, lets do it.” and all of a sudden we are swimming the next morning.
Sounds nice right a swim in the ocean? However the next morning was around 5-8′ waves, we swim often just not in the ocean much until now in Panama. So we go for the 750 meter swim, with strong currents working against us and the fear of returning to shore with these monster waves crashing hard on the beach. It was a long and intense swim, but we survived along with two of us pulling Tiffany to shore as the undertow was pulling her back out.
A few days after this someone from the group asked if I wanted to ride the bicycle portion of the triathlon route for training, my response,”Sure”. After riding the distance I decided why not just do the Triathlon, we came to Panama for new adventures anyhow, shoot why not just do the whole Triathlon solo.
Now here we are less than a day from the actual Triathlon and I am thinking oh boy, Triathlon is tomorrow! This is something I would never have even considered in the States, however for some reason only living in Panama for a short time I decided Why Not?
